Andy and Sharon would like to welcome you to our site:

The Keyring Company is owned and run by the two of us; we operate from our home, in the beautiful Tweed Coast of Northern New South Wales, Australia.

All of our key rings are exclusive to us; they are designed by ourselves and manufactured locally. They are made out of high quality Stainless Steel and have been given a finish that will only get better with time.

If you are local why not come and see us and our pet dog Ollie, at the Gold Coast, Arts & Craft market held in Coolangatta, every second Sunday of the Month.

A little bit of info and history behind key rings

  • According to the 2001 edition of the Guinness Book of Records the largest key ring collection is owned by Jeremy Demchuck from the USA who has 21,513 in his collection.
The earliest patents we have found for key rings are US patents
  • On January 6th 1920 John A Eichsteat of Akron, Ohio was issued patent number 1327534 for a 'key ring holder' - formed by a single strip of material adapted to be locked to a persons belt and to a key ring by a single fastening element.
  • On March 16th 1920 Virginia Davis of New York was issued patent number 1333655 for a key ring that was designed so that a bunch of keys may be carried , but which embody supplemental means for separately carrying one or more key rings, which it is desired to be quickly accessible, such as a night key.
  • On April 27th 1920 Herluf G. Johnson of Portland, Oregon was issued patent number 1338085 for a key ring that was exceedingly simple to manufacture and absolutely dependable in as much as keys can not be unlocked from the ring as long as it is suspended from a chain or hook.
These all seem to be modifications made to key rings, we could not find information on who or when the key ring was first invented… we will keep looking, if any one has any information please let us know.

Key Rings, Key Chains, Key Fobs, Key Holders…

what ever we choose to call them, most of have a use for at least one, and we usually carry it around with us in our day to day life. As they are small and reasonably priced many people choose to collect them, a collection of key rings are called copoclephily (Greek - kope = handle and kleis = key) If you collect key rings and would like to share your collection with the web please contact Key chain Collectors International

Thanks for looking, we hope you enjoy our site, if you have any questions or comments please feel free to email us
